Timely feeding on kids

Monday, October 18th, 2010

I know a lot of us get extremely worry at times when our child does not eat well. This happens usually to first-time parents. I was the same too, feeding my girl timely on her meal. And at the end of the day, it usually ended up into pointless feeding whereby we made the kid hate their food even more.

With the boys, I am very much more lenient. They eat whenever they want, but if they are not hungry during feeding time, I will put aside their food until they get hungry again. I find that this way, they eat very much better and we are all happier too!

Fluffy colors

Greedy part of me wanting to do so much, with so limited of time. This is the cloth diaper that I am talking about..

colors01

These are some of the prototype of the very first Mama Patch Cloth Diapers! Made of  super soft bamboo velour, I I love putting my boys into it. However it still requires a cover as this is a fitted diaper.

At this moment, the diapers are not for sale yet, as I have to put them through some product testing by some experience Mama before I can even call them a Mama Patch Cloth Diaper.

Right now, I am still seeking for some mums who are willing to work with me on this first diaper project, so called “Design/Review Mama Patch Cloth Diapers”. If you are a cloth diapering Mama who has always prefer using *Fitted (*that requires also a cover), do hop onto this project to be a part of us.

For more details, do visit this thread at the Diapers Asia Forum for more updates.

p/s: Tips, I hot washed them several time and let them soak in my undermount sink so that they fluff up and can absorb better.

Twin can be inexpensive too

Saturday, April 25th, 2009

I just can’t help but feeling proud of myself that I am still able to breastfeed the boys now, at 10 months. I know, it sounds almost unbelievable to most as it takes a lot of effort to successfully breastfeed one baby, what’s more feeding two.

Yesterday while running my errands, I was talking to some ladies while waiting for my food and they commented that my twins must be “pricey” in terms of spending on milk powder and disposable diapers. Not wanting to explain in details about cloth diapering in a hot coffee shop, I just merely tell them they are not that expensive, apart from being difficult to take care of. Reason is because they are still on breastmilk only, and we have not invest a single sen on formula as of today. Hope that I will be blessed with good health and free from problems like mesothelioma.

Guess where their eyes go to immediately after that? I bet anyone listen to my answer would shift their eyes to would be anxious to find out if I am that BIG to be able to feed TWO! *common reaction*

Ensure milk

Monday, February 16th, 2009

Not being blessed with a fair skin like my peers and both my brothers, I had always wanted to look fair when I was young. I applied lots of baby powder on my face, take an umbrella whenever I go under the sun when I was a teenager. Unfortunately nothing works for me.

When I got pregnant with QQ, my mum advised me to drink the Ensure Milk from Abbott (she even bought it for me). It is highly nutritious and expensive soy milk (even suitable for be used as meal replacement). A tin of 1000g cost about RM55. My mum and her friends who drank this milk during their pregnancy swears by it (true enough my youngest brother is the fairest among us, and with a high nose bone, he look very “ang-mor” too :p)

However not everyone can tolerate milk, what’s more soy taste. Unfortunately I could not even accept the taste when I carried QQ (I am very disheartened each time her friend’s parents in school commented on her “tan” skin).

When I carried the twin boys, I love the taste! (be it vanilla, strawberry or chocolate) I am a milk drinker since young and I drink Ensure milk at least 3 cups a day! That is how both my Bumbo boys are blessed with fair, white and super smooth tofu skin although hubby and I looks tan.

Salted Egg Fried Chicken

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

What do you think of this black chicken picture? Probably my picture doesn’t look that good, but I tell you, this is the best chicken that you will keep asking for.

A modified dish from the Salted Egg Fried Prawn or Salted Egg Fried Crab (Ham Tan Hai in Cantonese). It is also very easy to cook.

Ingredients:
Chicken pieces
Steam salted egg yolk
Marinate: soy sauce, oyster sauce, pepper powder
Coating: KFC Flour (I always add some self raising flour so that it taste more crispy

Method:
1.Marinate chicken (best if marinated overnight)
2. Spoon some flour mixture into the chicken and mix well.
3. Deep fry chicken.
4. Remove chicken from oil.
5. Use very little oil to stir fry the mashed egg yolk will you see bubbles.
6. Add in chicken and stir well.

Too bad my mum cannot take this dish as she is having knee pain with a big Plantar Fasciitis bandage.

Putting little clothings away

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

Since the babies are now getting bigger, I have sought out many of their smaller clothings and put them aside. We do not plan to have more babies, so I am thinking to give them away. But there are a lot for one baby to utilize so I can actually divide and give them to a few mothers. Anyone who wish to have them could come over to pick them as shipping boxes can be costly if they are being sent out.

Steroid for my babies

Friday, October 31st, 2008

In my 2nd trimester of my twin pregnancy, I was devasted when I found that the doctor I am seeing was not keen to give me legal steroids injection for baby’s lung maturity in case they arrive early. It has always been a norm for mothers carrying multiples to take this injection as multiple babies are expected to arrive earlier than singleton. Thank goodness I managed to carry my twin boys until 38th week. What a relief!

Outgrow soon

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

The boys are growing up so quickly that I hardly have time to do anything. Everything is going at such quick space. For instance, I have to change their diaper and clothing size after a while using them. Now the boys have also grown out of their little playpen and I might be getting a bigger one from them. With twins, even my baby bedding has to be upgraded and change so frequently to accommodate them!

Reunion cancelled

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

Today is supposed to be my niece’s birthday and we actually planned to order a cake for her today since she is coming to visit us today. So they left their home early this morning but alas, their car broke down in the middle of the journey. My sister-in-law was supposed to drive down the car to return to my brother-in-law but the temperature went up too high. Instead of continue driving for another 1 and half an hour to reach here, they have to return home instead. If only the car is insured with a better car insurance, the car would have been towed here instead of going all the way back there again.

Names for babies

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

Babyzone.com is a good place to check everything you need to know about pregnancy and parenting. I used to check about the progress of my pregnancy online when I was pregnant with my first child. There is so much useful information to read about, for first time mummy like me. Even though with this second pregnancy, I still need to refer a lot to information about twins’ pregnancy, multiple delivery and after childbirth care. I know it is going to be a lot different from bringing up my first child, furthermore, this time I am carrying boys.

Moving into my 37 weeks today, I think the baby can arrive anytime, any moment from now. Although the boys name Chinese names have been decided, we have not decided how we want the names to be spell in English. I always feel that girl’s name is easier to choose, as there are lots nice of baby girl name meanings to choose online. Am going to browse now to see what I can find!
