Weak boys

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

I find that my boys are quite weak in health although they are fully breastfed. I remember I was prescribed by the gynae and took lots of the best prenatal vitamins when I was preggy with them for extra nutrition. Although they are born at good weight and only fed with breasmilk exclusively, they still get sick very easily monthly. I hope they will grow out of it and have better immune system when they reach 2 this June!

2010 Diet plan

Friday, January 8th, 2010

I have stronger desire to slim down this time, I really do. Every week, I have a Chinese Urut Lady to come over for slimming massage,  I cut down my rice intake, and start switching from white bread and white rice to brown rice and wholemeal. I wish I can really be strict with myself on an exercise regime or a fitness equipment at home to make me do it regularly.

Ingredients used as shown above.

Alicia did a demo on how to cook her version of vegetarian “tang hun” (glass noodle in hokkien) without having to soak the glass noodle.

Curious mommies are checking out those recomended ingredients or brands of products to use.

Have not been going to cooking classes since the boys are born. I hope the ladies from the Buddhist society will organise more of such cooking classes in future, in Mrs Yong’s new house with especially in her nice and spacious kitchen with safe exit signs at her home.

Ensure milk

Monday, February 16th, 2009

Not being blessed with a fair skin like my peers and both my brothers, I had always wanted to look fair when I was young. I applied lots of baby powder on my face, take an umbrella whenever I go under the sun when I was a teenager. Unfortunately nothing works for me.

When I got pregnant with QQ, my mum advised me to drink the Ensure Milk from Abbott (she even bought it for me). It is highly nutritious and expensive soy milk (even suitable for be used as meal replacement). A tin of 1000g cost about RM55. My mum and her friends who drank this milk during their pregnancy swears by it (true enough my youngest brother is the fairest among us, and with a high nose bone, he look very “ang-mor” too :p)

However not everyone can tolerate milk, what’s more soy taste. Unfortunately I could not even accept the taste when I carried QQ (I am very disheartened each time her friend’s parents in school commented on her “tan” skin).

When I carried the twin boys, I love the taste! (be it vanilla, strawberry or chocolate) I am a milk drinker since young and I drink Ensure milk at least 3 cups a day! That is how both my Bumbo boys are blessed with fair, white and super smooth tofu skin although hubby and I looks tan.
