For those who can bake, but can’t decorate well, you can send your favourite images to be printed out on icing sheets. Just apply some butter cream on your cupcakes or cakes, and peel the sticker-like icing onto your cake.

Some online shops even have template of an A4 size so you can mix and match the shapes you want, all in one piece of A4 (price per A4 piece ranges from Rm17-Rm18). Once printed (usually takes less than a day), it will be sent out (by courier) once payment is made. Easy isn’t it?

It was years ago. Over at nanny’s place we made mini banana muffins, using recipe from youngnutritions. It was pretty easy and it came out very cute and small (see the one ready in the 2nd picture). QiQi enjoyed helping out to prepare lining the mould tray and crack the eggs. Thanks ya, QiQi but you almost destroyed the shape of the paper mould. With just 15mins baking, they turn out golden brown and it’s yummy.

Yi-mah (nanny’s sister), joined in the fun after that, and she made some bigger cupcakes, topped with raisins. Don’t they just look good? It is, for the fun we all had.

Bigger cups for the adults

I have great mood whenever a vacation has been planned. Baked some cupcakes a few weeks back to bring it along to Genting trip with families. Instead of using only butter, I add replace 1/3 with planta and it taste really great (even much better than recipe in my baking book), thanks to Elaine for her great recipe.

See recipe as below:

160g butter ( I used Farm Cow)

80g margerin (I used planta)

160g castor sugar

200g self raising flour

2Tbsp lemon juice

1 tsp lemon rind

3 eggs (I used biggest eggs)

Cupcakes like this can be kept for days in tight container and it is really convenient to be eaten during outing. I think these cute cupcakes will surely do a great snacks for my friend and their long distance movers when they move over to KL on this coming Saturday.

Went out to get some baking stuffs just now but did not have a good trip as I witness a bad accident which involves a bike and a lorry. That incident really did not look pleasant. I hope the rider would get help from the San Jose motorcycle accident attorney for claim in his badly damages caused by the other party.

Quick shaken, I then quickly pick up my baking stuffs at the bakery in Kajang and manage to get the chiffon cake tins that i want. It’s a new place with quite good supply of baking stuffs. Got hold of a set of nice muffin paper cups too. So initially wanted to bake only chiffon cake today, but the mood of trying out baking in the lovely cup really irresistable, so i tried with my own modified recipe. Amount was cut down and estimated, so only managed 2 cups, haha…

Ingredients: Self raising flour, egg, vanilla essence, majerin, castor sugar, grated cheddar cheese, water, heartshapes toppings

Method: beat everything into the mixing bowl till light, slowly mix in water and flour. Beat till even. Pour into cups and bake at preheated oven at 180 celsius for 25mins.

1st Birthday Platter for the neighbours

It has been exactly one year since we did birth announcements for our boys. In just a blink of eye, they are already crawling everywhere in the house, waiting for me to celebrate their first birthday.

Since we already did a mass celebration at hometown with family members with cakes and party, we only have a simple dinner at home on their actual birth date.

I marinated some wings (with mixture of oyster sauce, thick and soy sauce) and baked them in my oven. I even baked some small banana cupcakes (should have did some lil egg tarts instead) and did some red eggs, just for the sake of having fun. Since we had extra, I prepared a platter too, as giveaway to the neighbours. Just something so simple and nice

After a while taking a break in baking for the kids birthday, I baked again a few days back, just for the sake of fun. This time I made mini banana cupcakes, with my girl around sitting on the alleviated seat using the seat lifts so she could be tall enough to help me line the cups on our kitchen workplace.

Notice that my cakes do not fluff up? I probably adjusted the temperature in my oven too hot. Thus they ended up quite dry but crispy. Cute yeah, just great to stuff a few into my girl’s lunchbox the next day

Add icing sugar little by little until it is sweet enough.

Alternate with milk, I estimated 2 tablespoon, just enough for 9 medium size cupcakes.

To improve my piping skill

Not very satisfied with my previous cupcake decor, this time I try pipe out rossette icing instead. The tip is a little bit small, therefore I need to make many swirls ontop of another to get this result.

Quite presentable right?

I just love to bake. It is such a good destress activity and I hope I will not need any more hair loss treatments when less stressful.

Butter recipe – butter, icing sugar, vanilla essence

For the first time, this is the best I could do, with the messy butter cream.

Since QQ’s birthday is coming soon, and there are so many birthdays in June, I decided to bake for QQ’s birthday celebration in her class.

She initially wanted some very fancy looking cake from the internet with Princess Cake Toppers but I just could not find any here. I thought making something easy like the above is easy, but obviously I was wrong. The butter cream was a bit too sweet. At first I wanted to pipe on some rosettes, but was dismay to learn that it is not as easy as I thought. I ended up applying the cream all over and had QQ put some sprinkly on top. Each of the cupcake is supposed to be top with a Princess (from sticker) but my stingy girl wants to keep them for her actual day (although I told her that I’ll be buying more for her).

If time permits, I’ll try another time, playing with the cream. I love conventional butter cream, so if you have nice recipe, do share with me, ok. Got to go, am going to see my BIL’s motorcycle accident attorneys to discuss about his claim now.

I still could not get use to my new oven. Our first baking project was the Mickey Mouse Butter Cookies. Although they are a little bit dark, they still turns out very nice and extremely tasty!

On the second day, I did some cupcakes using a butter cake recipe. Some big mistakes:

1. placing my tray at the bottom rack. Since they were placed too near to the heating rod, bottom part of my cupcakes got burn!

2. I could not estimate the heat and time for baking cupcakes. I preheat my oven for 15mins at 180C degree. I think my oven was too hot.

3. The mixture was not beaten long enough.*sigh…boys crying so I got to feed them*. The texture of my cupcakes are too coarse.

4. I think the mixture collapsed. It was left too long since I had to feed another boy. The cakes were very dry. The cupcakes taste more like cookies instead of cake!
