Chilled lemongrass drink
5 October 2009 dans Drink
For the first time, I tried this lemongrass drink while dining at Thai Nudle House, Ikano. When I came across Shireen’s post, I just realise how easy it is to make this drink and since Fiona hopped over today for lunch, I thought it would be nice to for us.

Ingredients: 6 stalks Lemongrass (serai), 2 pandan leaves (optional), some rock sugar, 8 cups water
Method:
- Clean and pound bottom part of the lemongrass
- Add lemongrass and pandan leaves into boiling water and let it boil for about 5-10minutes
- Add rock sugar / white sugar to taste
- Remove pot from fire and let the leaves steep for about 30mins
- Drink hot or chilled with ice on hot days
Googled online, I found some articles and benefits of the lemon grass (serai)
- good cleanser that helps to detoxify the Liver, pancreas, kidney, bladder and the digestive tract
- cuts down uric acid, cholesterol, excess fats and other toxins in the body while stimulating digestion, blood circulation, and lactation
- alleviates indigestion and gastroenteritis
- improve the skin by reducing acne and pimples and acts as a muscle and tissue toner
- reduce blood pressure
Just so easy isn’t it? Make a concoction by boiling some lemon grass leaves, let it cool for a while and drink the liquid hot or chilled at the gulf shores al.
